Just Like I Said...

Remember when I was ranting about Project Runway and how the judges shouldn't be telling Austin that his wedding dress isn't a wedding dress? And how my argument was: "I've followed fashion for half of my life and I've seen some pretty wanky wedding gowns go down the runway." Well, just to prove my point, here is Jean Paul Gaultier's take on the wedding dress for Haute Couture Spring 2005:

Now, I'm not saying this dress is horrible or anything cause I love me some JPG... what I am saying is it's up to the designer to interpret the clothes and the consumer to decide whether they'd wear it or not. And while I realize that Project Runway is a competition and the judges reserve the right not to like an outfit, I don't think they should be allowed to make grand sweeping statements about whether something is or isn't what the designer intended it to be. I'm just saying.

Meanwhile, back to ranting about Project Runway... DOWN WITH WENDAROSA! I can't believe they sent home Kevin over Wendy last night. If she makes it to the top 3, I'm going to... I don't know what I'll do but I'll be pissed!!

Oscars

It's that time of year again, the time when Oscar takes over the world (or at least the news).

And the nominees are ...

I don't really have much to say this year because I haven't been keeping up with the movies. But I plan on trying to see all the best picture nominees. Already saw Ray. And I was excited to see that Before Sunset was nominated for Adapted Screenplay. That sequel was so worth the (9 year) wait. I guess I'll save any predictions until I actually see more of the movies...

Nap Time Approaches

In 10 minutes, I'm going home so I thought I'd try to get in my 3rd post of the week. But I don't have anything very exciting to say. Let's see...

Next week, I'm going to go macrobiotic for 7 days straight. That'll be interesting to exactly nobody but me.

And all my shows were very good this week.

Yeah... I've got nothing. Have a good weekend!

Darth Tater

Oh... I need this:

Darth Tater: The dark side of Mr. Potato Head

Ode to Dubya

OK, not an ode because I'm not about to waste my own creative energy on him. So instead, I'll post this photo collage pic of our great leader:

It's called War President and it's made from photos of soldiers who've died in Iraq. So, congrats to W on his "successful" first term on this, the first day of his second term. God help us all...

At Least I'm Trying

Yeah, so it's 3:45 on Friday and I've only blogged once this week. But I've been sick and blah blah blah. Anyway -

Is it just me or do you find that the more they discover about space the less you care. Saturn's moon looks just as boring as ours. I mean, look at this headline:

"Probe spots alien riverbeds on Saturn moon"

Unless there are actual ALIENS in those riverbeds, I don't wanna hear it. And it's like -292 F there... damn, that's cold. Don't even get me started on how lame Mars was.

Jay Wuz Robbed

So once again, Jay had the best design on Project Runway and once again the judges f'ed up and gave the win to another designer. Not that Kara's dress wasn't also very nice... but Jay's dress kicked ass and he should have gotten bonus points for working w/Morganza. I think he's the fan favorite because his outfits are getting the highest bids in the auctions. So listen up judges and bravo and PR producers! And while you're listening, kick out Wendy cause everyone hates her. Some of her designs are cool but she sucks. And so does her makeup. She looks like a demented clown. And another thing, stop showing Robert in his underwear cause I don't need to see that.

Last night's challenge was awesome cause the designers had to create dream wedding dresses for the PR models. In 2 days. And all the designers hated all the ideas that the models came up with. And the judges were all hilarious during the runway show cause they actual told Austin that his dress wasn't a wedding dress. I've followed fashion for half of my life and I've seen some pretty wanky wedding gowns go down the runway. So while I hated his dress, I think it's funny that they felt qualified to make that judgement. Especially when the model he created for loved it. I'm just saying.

The Lush Life

I finally found the Sofia Mini around here... and it's quite good. The little telescoping straw is the coolest. It's like a grown-up juice box... with alcoholic benefits.

It's Burger-Licious

Dude, if I see this:

at my local grocery store... I am so buying it. What the fuck does LiLo have to do w/ketchup anyway?

Oh... once again the interweb answers my questions.

Go Me!

I just crossed something off my not-even-completed 205 in 2005 list... I started a savings account. Woo-hoo! With direct deposit so I can't "accidentally" spend my monthly savings amount at Target.

I Hereby Resolve...

to post on this blog at least 3x a week in 2005. And about 204 other things. Like reading 50 books.

I'm taking the 50 book challenge, where I attempt to read 50 books in 2005 and blog about them. But not on the 50 book challenge blog and not on this blog either. If you want to know about my 50 book challenge, go to Mia's Book Blog. I really slacked off the reading last year so I thought this would be a good way to make sure that doesn't happen again. I've also resolved to post to that blog at least once a week.

I haven't finished my 205 for 2005 list yet but I did cross off 51 things on the 204 for 2004 list. I often think I'm only living up to 25% of my potential so that was right on target! This year I'm really gonna push for 60%! Hee. Clearly some things will be carried over from the 2004 list to the 2005 list and some are looking hopeful... like learning to ski. We'll see.

Anyway - wasn't that a crappy ass "winter storm" yesterday? It was like cold rain w/a teeny tiny bit of ice... it did make the trees look very pretty though. What else was I going to talk about??? Oh, Project Runway... is awesome. Right now, I'm rooting for Jay. And that's all I've got...
